February 21, 2013 – New Personal Record Day at West Point

I went back to physical therapy today after being gone for approximately two weeks.  I set a personal record today while walking with the quad cane.  My previous maximum distance was 35 feet.  Today I walked 100 feet!  Oh yeah!  Throw ya hands up!!!  HaHa!!

I also did rather well performing squats in the parallel bars.  I did deeper squats and I feel as if I have better control of my knees and that I am gaining strength when pushing myself back up into the standing position.

It was good to see the West Point crew today.   I didn’t realize that I missed their interaction as much.  They are a great group of people and are all so full of good energy and encouragement.  Thanks Darlene, John, Brian, Crystal, Marissa – I love you guys!!!

  1. Hello! Thanks so much for being candid and brave and telling your story. it has helped me allot. I was hospitalized and eventually diagnosed with TM mid-April 2013. so much of your journey is sooooop familiar! I am waiting with baited breath to learn about your recovery…and mine. As you are well aware this is a life-altering experience we wrestle with. Outside of medical personnel, I haven’t run into anyone who’s even heard of TM, much less had first-hand experience with it. Ive stopped naming it since it requires so much explanation when all anyone really wants to ask is when/if i’ll walk. My reply, “yes! I know im going to walk…but only God knows when and his timetable Im good with.” Please keep writing and I’ll do the same.

    Peace & Blessings

    • Hello DeNatalie, Thank you for your kind words. Your message confirmed something for me and that is the fact that we can’t put timelines on our recovery. That has been one of the most difficult things for me. In the hustle and bustle of my world before TM, I was always in control of my time and my schedule. That is no longer the case and when I was in the hospital the the Lord told me that “All Is Well With You”, I believed him. I also know that I will walk again just the same way that you know it. He tells us to “Be Still And Know That I Am God” and that is exactly what I plan to do! 🙂
